Playing Strategies (Quick Primer)
This page takes you step by step through the setup of a new ‘Single’ strategy. The KO (Knock-Out Blackjack) strategy is used as an example.
Creating a KO Blackjack Strategy
Ø Click on Define/Edit Strategies
Ø On the main page of the Playing Strategy Configurator, click on ‘Create a new Playing Strategy.’
Ø The New Strategy page will be displayed. You can create an Advanced strategy that includes all variations for decks and rules, or a Single strategy that has only one set of tables. We will start with a Single strategy. Enter a Strategy name. For example, KO Six Deck.
Ø You need to base the strategy on a previous strategy. Click on the + to the left of Basic Strategies in the right hand window. This will open the Basic Strategies folder. Now click on Complete Basic Strategy. This will base the new strategy on Basic Strategy. This is usually the best place to start. Click on the INIT button.
Ø Now we specify the Type of strategy. Click on Single to indicate that we are creating a strategy with one set of index tables.
Ø Click on the Counts button on the Tool Bar to go to the Counts Page. Here we set the Starting Counts and Card Point Values. In the lower table, set the Card Point Values to -1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, -1 for the KO strategy. Set the Starting Counts according to the KO book.
Ø Click on the Insure button on the Tool Bar. Here we set the Insurance Index. Click on Use Insurance Decks Table to indicate that the top table will be used. The table will be initialized to zeroes. Now, enter the correct insurance index for each number of decks according to the book. (Due to copyright concerns, this document cannot include the values.)
Ø Click on the Tables button on the Tool Bar. You will only need to fill in one set of tables for a Single Strategy. You will see six red buttons. Each button provides the ability to setup one of the index tables.
Ø Click on the top red button - Hard Hit/Stand. The Hard Hit/Stand table will be displayed. It will be initialized to Basic Strategy. You now need to insert the indexes for KO. First, click on the light blue colored box on the lower left that displays ‘Hit < Value.’ Once you have clicked on this box, any cell in the table that you click on will be colored light blue when you click on it. Now, you should click on each table cell that should include an index number according to the KO book. Once you click on a cell, you can type the index number.
Ø When done, exit the table and use the same process to modify the other tables. KO uses the Hard Hit/Stand, Hard Double and Surrender tables.
Ø You are now finished and can select this new strategy using Attach a Strategy.
