Surrender

Next, we will look at surrender. Alas, the early surrender form is essentially extinct in the U.S. But late surrender can still be found and is a valuable rule. Most players do not play it correctly, making it a low-cost rule for the casino. An insignificant number of tables with unusual forms of surrender have been removed from the data.

In the U.S. as a whole we see surrender, in green, at about 18% of tables. Nevada and California have somewhat higher frequencies and Louisiana and Mississippi a very low frequency.

There are very few LS tables in Reno and Sparks as it is rare in single-deck.

Surrender is available at about 40% of Las Vegas tables. This seems very surprising, as most casinos do not allow surrender. But many of the large casinos with a huge number of tables provide LS.

Surrender is but a memory in Atlantic City — although some high-stakes players have managed to talk casinos into offering it.
