The OK Unbalanced Level 1 Strategy

The KO Strategy is contained in the book Knock-Out Blackjack--The Easiest Card Counting System Ever Devised by Olaf Vancura and Ken Fuchs. This strategy (I will call OK for lack of a better name) is quite similar but has different index values, categories and betting ramps. It will be easier for some people because it has two index categories instead of three and one fewer index. The strategy performs nearly identically to KO with the same betting ramps. I have also included betting ramps that I think result in better performance than KO. For those interested, the strategy is as follows:

Tags

Cards 2-7: +1, 8 & 9: 0, Ten & Ace: -1

The Initial Running Counts are 0, -4, -12, -20 & -28 for 1, 2, 4, 6 & 8 decks respectively.

Index values

There are two groups of indexes:
  • Group 1
    • 15v10
    • 12v2
    • 12v3
    • 10v10
    • 10vAce
    • 9v2
    • 9v7
    • 8v5
    • 8v6
  • Group 2
    • 16v10
    • 11vAce
    • 13v2
    • 13v3
    • 12v4
    • 12v5
    • 12v6

Group 1 index value is always +4 Group 2 index values are 2, 0, -3, -6 and -10 for 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 decks respectively.

Insurance is always +3

Note: The last five indexes in Group 2 (13v2, 13v3, 12v4, 12v5 and 12v6) are only used in single and double deck games.

Suggested Betting Ramps

These tables are units bet for each running count. You need to decide your own maximum bet and level off your betting at that point.

Eight Deck:

RC -6 -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1
Bet 1 2 3 6 8 8 10 12

Six Deck:

RC -5 -4 -3 -2 -1 0 1 2
Bet 1 2 3 4 6 8 10 12

Double Deck:

RC 0 1 2 3 4
Bet 1 2 3 5 6

Note: If penetration is very poor, raise the bet at RC 2 to 4 units.

Single Deck:

RC 2 3 4 5
Bet 1 2 4 5

Note: If penetration is very poor, raise the bet at RC 3 to 3 units.

Indexes were generated with the CVData Blackjack Simulator and betting ramps were calculated by CVCX Optimal Bet Calculator.
