Betting

As with REKO, you want to bet more when the remaining cards are more favorable. That is, you bet more when the count is higher. Bet spreads are the same as for REKO. In a single-deck game, you may have a spread of 1-4 minimum bets. In an eight-deck game, 1-20 or even 1-24.

Betting schedules are a bit easier to remember in a true-counted strategy, as counts of zero and below always indicate that the advantage is against you, and positive counts nearly always indicate the advantage is in your favor. So, we will begin increasing the bets when the true count is +2. Below you will find sample betting schedules:

If we look at the single-deck table, we bet $10 with counts below 1, $20 at a count of 1, etc. You can scale the bets up or down according to your bankroll. Note: These schedules require a fairly large bankroll — at least $10,000 for a reasonable risk. Bankroll sizing will be discussed in the “Betting/Risk” chapter.
