Wonging/Back-Counting DataThere exist a huge number of variables affecting the back-counter. This makes it essentially impossible to generalize the number of hands played per hour. A back-counter moves from table to table. The hands per hour depends upon: Ø The number of available tables Ø The number of players at these various tables Ø The speed of the various dealers and players Ø The speed of the shuffle Ø The penetration Ø The crowds blocking the view of the cards while standing Ø The number of pits in the casino allowing you to switch pits Ø The skill of the back-counter So, how do I deal with the speed issue? I gave this situation deep thought, and then flipped a coin. It is not reasonable for a book to predict what conditions you will find in a particular casino at any particular hour. So instead of the normal SCORE charts, I have made a subtle change. The amount won per hand is displayed. This amount is calculated with all the normal SCORE assumptions found on page 99, so they take into account optimal betting and risk. For each win rate value in each chart, the bets are recalculated to the standard SCORE bankroll and risk. Thus, the reader can adjust the data depending on the conditions experienced in any particular casino session and the comparisons are made under equal assumptions. I did not bother to print the exact numbers in these charts. As is true with most of the charts in this book, the attempt is to show relative effects of conditions. The exact numbers are affected by numerous variables. I have no specific point in this discussion. I am simply dumping the data on the reader to do with it what he/she will. All charts in this section were generated with the following circumstances: six decks, S17, DAS, 75% penetration, and the FELT Count. A bet spread of 1-4 is used unless otherwise stated.
